No GULU WALK this year!

Hey all,
We just got notification that there will not be a Gulu Walk this year. The situation in Uganda is steadily improving and the organizers feel taht we have done our part in making people aware of the situation in Uganda. If you want to know more I've included the correspondence that we got from the organizers.

We are writing today to inform you that we will not be organizing the
GuluWalk with the TDSB this year. It has been a great event for us
(and we hope for you as well) and one that we are we're both sad, and
elated, to no longer be organizing. We've come to this decision
through numerous discussions over the last year and based on the
events and situation in Uganda. Currently there is relative peace and
stability in northern Uganda and by all accounts life seems to be
returning to normal -- people are returning to traditional villages
and feel safe to move through the region.

We started the GuluWalk as a response to the tragedy of a civil war
that ravaged the area, with kidnapping and child soldiers, leaving
people in IDP camps, and eventually youth started night commuting in
order to be safe. Since we did our first walk in 2005, GuluWalk has
raised awareness of this civil war, engaged and moved governments and
has raised over $1.5-million in support of youth programs in northern
Uganda - all thanks to compassionate individuals like yourselves.
